Google.org support for AI-assisted earthquake monitoring project
I am coordinating the Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory AI-Assisted Earthquake Monitoring and Analysis Project, which is supported by Google.org.
In this project, we will develop artificial intelligence and signal-processing methods for seismic data analysis, with the goal of supporting faster and more automated earthquake monitoring. We will also explore how current AI methods can contribute to Kandilli Observatory’s early warning infrastructure by supporting rapid evaluation of data from seismic stations.
I expect the project to strengthen Kandilli’s research infrastructure for training models, developing algorithms, and applying AI methods to other observation data, including tsunami, geomagnetism, and structural health monitoring.
